Try this

Go into the server script and add an echo statement after the two occurrences of the "Could not backup notes.ini" string. For example:

echo "Could not backup notes.ini"
echo "First"
exit 1

echo "Could not backup notes.ini"
echo "Second"
exit 1

Attempt to relaunch Domino and see which of these statements is printed. That will help determine in which part of the script your error occurs.
